Katie Canfield - Program Lead - Levels 1 & 2
A native Californian, Katie started her career in the wine industry after working a grape harvest in Santiago, Chile while studying abroad. In 2009, after graduating from UC Santa Barbara with degrees in Spanish and Global Studies, she moved to Logroño, Spain for three years and then to Dijon, France, where she earned her MSc degree in Wine Business. Following her studies, she moved to the UK to join Manchester-based wine retailer Hangingditch Wine Merchants, also contributing articles regularly to leading trade publication Harpers Wine and Spirit. Since her move back to California in 2014, she’s worked in marketing and communications for international wineries through importer Wilson Daniels, Paul Hobbs Wines, and as partner at O’Donnell Lane, driving communications and strategic planning.

Erica Duecy - Level 1
Erica Duecy is an award-winning wine writer and editor. Currently, she is chief content officer of the wine-discovery platform Pix and its online magazine The Drop. Erica has run several publications as editor in chief, including VinePair and SevenFifty Daily, and has worked as digital director for Architectural Digest and Saveur. She is a judge for wine competitions and holds the WSET Level 3 Advanced Certification in Wine and Spirits. Erica is the author of the cocktail book Storied Sips (Random House) and she writes a bimonthly, snackable wine newsletter called Bottle Service, highlighting sustainable wines in unexpected ways.
Jee Park - Level 1
Jee Park has over 20 years of experience in communications. She spent nearly 12 years at CBS News as a producer for the network’s morning show. Since leaving television, she has taken her producer skills and applied them to marketing, PR, corporate communications, and culinary event production. She has worked on several national epicurean events including the FOOD & WINE Classic in Aspen, Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival, and Atlanta Food & Wine Festival. She also served as Director of Communications for Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group. In her current role at Magrino, she oversees accounts in wine, luxury travel, and consumer.
Courtney Cochran - Level 1
At Fetzer Vineyards, Courtney Cochran oversees corporate, brand, and sustainability communications. In addition to overseeing brand and corporate communications, Cochran represents Fetzer Vineyards as a business advocate for climate-smart legislation in a variety of arenas, including LEAD on Climate on Capitol Hill. Prior to joining Fetzer Vineyards, Cochran was a member of the PR team at E&J Gallo Winery and founded HIP TASTES® Communications in San Francisco. She is the author of the awarded book, Hip Tastes: The Fresh Guide to Wine (Viking Studio), and is vice chair of the board for the Healthcare Foundation Northern Sonoma County.
Michelle Schromm - Level 1
Michelle Schromm is a wine industry professional with over ten years of experience in various sales and marketing roles, beginning at a high-end, boutique winery in Mendoza, Argentina, to managing Paul Hobbs’ international family of brands, and most recently, at RAEN winery. Some examples of her experience include team management, brand planning and launches for domestic and international wineries, and PR/communications.
Virginie Boone - Level 1
Virginie Boone reviews and writes about the wines of Napa and Sonoma for Wine Enthusiast Media, and is a longtime resident of Sonoma County. She began her writing career with Lonely Planet travel guides, writing guides to the American South, South America, Northern California and the Loire Valley, which led in a roundabout and perfectly sensible way to California-focused wine coverage for The Santa Rosa Press Democrat, Savor Magazine, Sonoma Magazine, and others. She is a regular panelist and speaker on wine topics in California and beyond.
Katie Owen - Level 1
Katie Owen is a trained Winemaker (MS Oenology, University of Adelaide) and holds the WSET Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Wine and Spirits. She is currently the Director of Marketing for Domaine de la Côte, Sandhi Wines, Evening Land Vineyards, and Piedrasassi Wine & Bread. Katie previously worked in winemaking in Australia and the Napa Valley, as a Sommelier in various Los Angeles restaurants, and helped to lead product teams at two budding wine startups: Winc Wines and Nocking Point Wines. Today, Katie works with Raj Parr and Sashi Moorman to further develop the brands of their four wineries and increase direct to consumer sales through digital channels.
Juliana Colangelo - Level 1
Juliana Colangelo is a public relations specialist in the wine industry leading the Digital team for Colangelo & Partners, based out of San Francisco. Originally from the NY-Metro area, Juliana holds a degree in Political Science at Barnard College at Columbia University. She completed the WSET Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Wine and Spirits and her MBA in Wine Business at Sonoma State University. Juliana seeks to provide her clients with strategic communications strategy in the form of story ideation, press outreach, events and sponsorships, relationship building with trade, and more. With a background in non-profit development, Juliana values social responsibility and incorporates it into her professional career.
Camila Xavier - Level 1
Originally from Brazil, Camila Xavier has over 12 years of experience working with wine and spirits brands primarily from Europe and Latin America. She started her career in Public Relations and events for Kobrand Corporation followed by brand and marketing management positions at Palm Bay International and Maisons & Domaines Henriot America. Her understanding of brands ranging from popular premium to luxury and iconic leads to developing effective marketing strategies resulting in increased sales and brand awareness while optimizing return on investment. Camila’s passion for the wine and spirits industry has led her to successfully complete the WSET Diploma in Wine & Spirits.
Martina Mirandola Mullen - Level 1
Martina earned her BA in Anthropology, German and Italian from Notre Dame and studied Applied Linguistics/TESL at USF. In her early 20s, she taught ESL before moving to Italy to help Andy Steves build travel adventures for abroad students. Upon returning to the US, Martina worked for Select Italy in Chicago and moved into the world of wine. She later moved to New York City for a job in PR/Communications, and was then recruited into sales to work for Ste Michelle Wine Estates. At Massanois, her current employer, she manages the Italian portfolio as well as national sales to distributors and on- and off-premise chains.
Katherine Jarvis - Level 1
As president of Jarvis Communications, Katherine and her team create custom-made programs for international and domestic clients in need of publicity. Upon graduation from Northwestern University, she taught history in Bogota, Colombia, before returning to Chicago to work in fine wine auctions—first at Davis & Company Wine Auctioneers (now Hart Davis Hart) and then with Lionstone International in partnership with Sotheby’s North American wine auctions. She later worked as executive director at hospitality public relations firm, Wagstaff Worldwide, Inc. She is a member of Slow Food and Les Dames d’Escoffier and is studying for the WSET Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Wine and Spirits.
