Katie Canfield - Program Lead
Born and raised in California, Katie Canfield earned her B.A. in Spanish and Global Studies at University of California, Santa Barbara. Her career in the wine industry began during her last year at university while studying abroad in Santiago, Chile. Since then, Katie has lived in Rioja (Logroño), Burgundy (Dijon), and the UK (Manchester), studying and working in various sectors of the wine industry: production (including harvests in Chile, France, and Napa Valley), wine writing, retail, hospitality, and distribution. Since her move back to California in 2014, Katie has led marketing and communications for the international portfolios of Wilson Daniels, Paul Hobbs Wines, and now co-owns PR, marketing, and event agency O’Donnell Lane. Katie holds a M.Sc. degree in Wine Business and WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wine and Spirits. She serves on the board of Bâtonnage Forum—a nonprofit organization focused on supporting women in wine—and has served as Marketing & Communications Program Lead for the Bâtonnage Mentorship Program since 2022.

Andrea Smalling
Andrea has held marketing and strategic leadership positions for several of North America’s leading wineries over the past 30 years.
After beginning her career in Toronto with Procter & Gamble, Andrea moved to California to join Gallo Winery, where over 10 years, she held a number of marketing leadership positions, focusing on a variety of areas including new product development, on-premise marketing and international business development and marketing. Her career progressed to include roles including Vice President of Marketing with Constellation, Global Marketing at Treasury Wine Estates, and 7 years as CMO with Foley Family Wines where she launched the disruptive Foley Food and Wine Society loyalty program. She then headed to the Okanagan Valley in Canada where she headed up Marketing and Direct to Consumer for Mark Anthony Group and led significant growth across Canada’s most prominent luxury wineries. After that, Andrea gained start up experience leading marketing for the fast-growing McBride Sisters Collections.
Andrea has been a strong mentor for women and minorities in the wine industry since the beginning of her career, believing strongly that the key to wineries’ ability to authentically engage an increasingly diverse population lies in the inclusion of diverse people and ideas behind-the-scenes. She recently joined the Board of the Glancy Wine Education Foundation, whose mission is to drive diversity in the industry by funding wine education for underserved communities.
Andrea is currently the Chief Marketing Officer for WineDirect, where she enjoys using her experience to help their over 2000 winery clients develop and successfully run their direct-to-consumer sales operations.
Andrea and her husband live in Livermore, California with their dog Layla, while their 2 ‘kids’ who are 22 and 24 are currently going to school and working in New York.
Danna Shapiro
Danna Shapiro is a NYC-based consultant, providing strategic marketing communication services with a focus on luxury brands.
Her experience encompasses nearly decade with Kobrand Wines & Spirits, a luxury importer, marketer and distributor working on key brands such as Maison Louis Jadot, Champagne Taittinger and Sassicaia. At Kobrand she held multiple positions in the public relations and brand management teams, before heading up the company-wide special events program.
After starting her own consultancy, her expertise led to work with a wide range of clients, including publishers and associations helping them build and grow signature events. An expert in audience development, driving curated attendees for a wide range of special events.
A dual passion for wine and sustainability is a driving force. Extensive study of the world of wine has led to credentials from the Wine & Spirits Education Trust - DipWSET and a partial pass in the Masters of Wine program.

Florencia Gomez
Florencia is an established wine professional from Argentina, with an expansive career spanning over 15 years in the industry, working in wineries from Napa to Burgundy to Croatia. Now operating from London, her exposure to diverse cultures and winemaking practices ensures a well-rounded approach to industry challenges. Her early hands-on experience and role as Europe's Export Manager equipped her with deep knowledge and strategic acumen - skills she seamlessly applies to mentorship. As the founder of Grand Crew, her marketing agency, she proficiently bridges the gap between traditional wine brands and modern market trends, functioning as a brand ambassador, content creator, and marketing strategist. Alongside her role as a business strategist, Florencia is committed to raising diverse voices within the wine industry. Her strong communicationand leadership skills complement her passion to actas a guide and ally. Florencia's enthusiasm and profound commitment make her a catalyst for positive transformation and an asset for potential mentees seeking to grow, innovate, and make an impact in the world of wine.
Michelle Egan
Michelle learned the wine business from the ground up, starting her with her first job after graduating with a degree in Marketing from the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management. Raised in the restaurant industry in Santa Barbara, hospitality has always been an integral part of Michelle’s DNA.
She joined E&J Gallo Winery as a sales representative, and over the next seven years gained an invaluable foundation in virtually every aspect of the wine industry, including marketing, brand management, and sales strategy.
In 2007, Michelle joined Constellation Brands’. Throughout her 11-year tenure she held a series of increasing responsibilities and ultimately grew to Vice President, Fine Wine Marketing and Direct-to-Consumer. Michelle then transitioned to Realm Cellars as Vice President, Sales & Marketing, where she refined and applied her skills in catering to the luxury consumer market. Most recently, Michelle was Vice President, Marketing & Direct-to-Consumer for Terlato Wine Group’s Family Estate brands including Chimney Rock, Sanford, Rutherford Hill, and Klipsun.
In 2023, Michelle took the leap from full-time corporate roles to establish her own consulting business, Egan Wine Co. She now concentrates her expertise on Marketing and DTC (Direct-to-Consumer) strategy, specializing in collaborations with family-owned and operated wineries that share her values and aspire to achieve sustainable business growth.
Michelle has a tremendous track record as a strong leader with a wealth of knowledge across sales, marketing, and DTC. She is a passionate thought leader who values diversity and giving back to the community. She is currently a Level 1 & 2 mentor with the Bâtonnage Forum where she embraces the opportunity to have meaningful conversations about turning equality into actions that create equity in the wine industry. Michelle has made her home in the beautiful Napa Valley where you can often find her outdoors or wine tasting with her husband, son, and Chocolate Labrador.
Rachel DiMattia Hadder
Rachel DiMattia Hadder is an experienced marketing and events professional, currently serving as the Senior Marketing Manager & Portfolio Manager at Regal Wine Imports. With over 8 years of experience spanning distributors, wineries, and trade organizations, she has a robust background orchestrating trade and consumer events, managing social media and supplier relationships, and supporting sales teams through strategic marketing initiatives. Rachel holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Susquehanna University and has achieved several wine certifications, including WSET Level 3 and Italian Wine Scholar. Rachel is an avid traveler, having visited over 20 countries including stints living abroad in Australia, Sicily, and England. Currently based in Philadelphia, she blends her work with a global perspective and a passion for wine.

Rachel Keigley
Since moving to the Bay Area in 2011, Rachel began her career in the wine industry specializing in hospitality management and social media. She brings a multifaceted background managing events, culinary departments, hospitality teams, making wine throughout different parts of the world, public relations, photography and digital media. Her passion for all things food and beverage related, and the essence behind each business, is what drives her creativity and devotion toward client success.
Prior to joining af&co., where she is currently a Senior Director of PR & Marketing, Rachel has worked for multiple agencies leading digital/social campaigns, influencer strategies and public relations for hotels, restaurants and wineries nationwide. Rachel holds a B.A. in Communications and Media Studies and her WSET Level Two. She is currently studying for her Level Three exam.
Rachel finds joy in supporting local businesses and building lasting personal connections. She thrives on capturing a companies’ story digitally and sharing it with the social community. When she isn’t discovering a new restaurant or tasting wine, you’ll find Rachel gardening, leading her book club, or hitting up a hot Pilates class.
Sarah Hoffman
Sarah is co-founder and CEO of Maker Wine, a premium canned wine company on a mission to make fine wine more approachable. Sarah’s passionate about supporting diversity in wine, and her company Maker partners with female and minority-led wineries to can their wines and share their stories. Before Maker, Sarah’s expertise was in scaling high growth start-ups. At her day job she managed user acquisition and multi-million dollar marketing budgets at companies from inception through IPO, most recently in-house at Eventbrite and on the agency side at Right Side Up, a growth marketing consultancy. In her personal life, Sarah’s passionate about creating connection through food and beverage. As an avid homebrewer she started a beer pairing supperclub business, and spent a year traveling the world as a craft beverage writer. These experiences inspired her to want to create a business that celebrates independent wineries.
